Opportunities to Serve
We are always looking for volunteers to help us in various capacities at each of our camps. Below you’ll find a list of areas where your help will be appreciated.
Cabin Leaders - Cabin Leaders are responsible for leading their cabin all of the activities of the day including cabin devotions, etc. They are also expected to be at daily staff devotions. For more details, see the staff handbook.
CIT - Cabin Leaders in Training are responsible for assisting the Cabin Leaders all of the oversight of the cabin as well as also attending daily staff devotions. For more details, see the staff handbook.
Cooks - Each camp requires a head cook with a minimum of an assistant, and usually several assistants. The cook is responsible for planning the menus for the week, purchasing the food (paid for by camp) and preparing the meals and snacks.
Camp Nurse - The camp nurse is responsible for the daily distribution of medicines and the immediate care of any injuries that may come up during the week. Ideally, this person is a trained nurse, in training to be a nurse, an EMT, or some other trained medical/emergency professional.
Camp Manager - Each camp needs a person who is responsible for maintenance at camp, taking garbage to the dump, making trips town for supplies, and other odd jobs as needed. This person quietly makes camp run much more smoothly.
Activities Director - Most often, the camps seek a specific person to plan, prepare, set up, and run activities at two or three extended periods of time during the day. Many supplies are at camp for this, but the director also may bring his or her own supplies and activities.
Boys'/Girls' Bible Study Teacher - Each of the first four week days of camp has a one hour Bible Study time after lunch. A man leads the boys in that time, and a woman leads the girls. These volunteers usually come from outside the previously mentioned staff and often assist in other ways throughout the week.
Other positions do exist and vary according to the needs of each camp. If you have further questions, please contact Dan Marasco at melissadanmarasco@gmail.com or contact another camp director whom you know.
All staff and volunteers are required to have a current/up-to-date certificate of training from ministrysafe for their volunteer time at camp, as we consider the safety of camp to be one of the most crucial parts of this ministry. When someone is accepted as staff for a week of camp, the director of that week is responsible to send the person the links for this training.
